Software Engineering
with a purpose

Spaceworx is a technical concept from John Bolt, a Software Engineer with a background in Academic Computer Science (CS MsC), trained in NeuroLinguistics and NLP / ML where he contributed to Academic Research. His goal is to conceive real-world software solutions to companies and individuals, with a firm belief that education is the revolutionary path to excellence through life-long learning. As an independent professional, and starting off as a Jr. Network Engineer, he's had the fortune of working on the entire value chain, from mid-90's website creation to early Machine Learning and NLP. After 8 years writing Java Enterprise corporate solutions, where he still has some sleep-months to reclaim, he co-founded a C++ Financial Technology startup with a partner, and went full independent from then on. Nowadays he gravitates around financial coding, using Linux for over 25 years as his tool of choice for Infrastructure Automation, while tending to and providing personal trading solutions and sponsored research.

He occasionally collaborates with other teams and projects, helping them reach their technical and management goals. Despite Agile's bad rep, he champions the methodology as still worthwile, though sadly misunderstood.

If you care to learn more about his approach to Software Engineering and Project Management, feel free to have a look at the books section below, or the personal book list, which doesn't include most of those.

If it's worth doing, it's worth doing it right.

In case you didn't notice, this portfolio site is a small tribute to Mr. Sun-Ra and his Arkestra, or how I like to call him, Rah-Y-Ra - the first Sonic Destroyer. Because Space is The Place - and why wouldn't it be?

We are what we read

I'm from a time when we had to read books to do this. I still do. Below, you'll find some selected readings for anyone interested in learning more about the engineering worx we do around here - these are the tools that are used to shape the world.
Also, here is my independent book list with some of the books I've read, which doesn't include most on this selection.
